Castell Gorfod

Castell Gorfod Estate is a distinguished, well-established driven shoot located just 7 miles outside Carmarthen, renowned for offering top-quality birds that challenge even the most skilled shooters. The shoot was proudly featured in Shooting Times magazine two seasons ago in a three-page article highlighting its unique appeal. Birds are driven over scenic grassland valleys, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes that create a memorable experience. The shoot is compact with minimal walking, and a buggy is available when needed. Primarily operated as a syndicate, Castell Gorfod offers bags averaging between 200-300, with limited pegs available on select days throughout the season to complete the team of guns. Full hospitality is provided, including a three-course meal in the elegant estate house, with Thursdays exclusively dedicated to the estate shoot.

Additionally, we offer a slightly more relaxed shoot on Wednesdays in an adjacent valley, featuring bags ranging from 175-250. This beat showcases high-quality birds driven across steep grassy valleys, challenging shooters with curling birds that navigate the high banks and woodland edges. For those interested in variety, we also offer limited mixed bird shooting days in December and January, featuring Woodcock and Snipe in a unique and exhilarating environment.

Rectory Farm

The shoot has been established since 1997 and we are focused on producing quality high birds ,some of our infamous drives like the Quarry, Cethin , Heart attack hill (for beaters only) , just to name a few will test even the best game shots frequently having a ratio of 7-1. Most of our drives all pegs are on grassland and the guns have plenty of time to see the birds coming and you can see the whole line, there are no gliders these birds fly and climb .

Land & topography

The topography is a very picturesque setting with grass fields set in the bottom of steep valleys having time to see the birds coming and mostly all guns can see the whole gun line
